Defining and identifying femicide: a literature review

European Institute for Gender Equality

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The review analyses the elements and factors that are required to identify the gender dimensions of femicide cases. It also raises challenges in identifying femicide - the lack of common definitions, the lack of data, and problems with collecting data - such as an under-reporting or biases in gathering.
