Intimate femicide in Italy: A model to classify how killings happened

Data Analysis and Classification

---------- TYPE OF DATA ----------
Mediterranean

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Domenica F. Iezzi proposes a method to classify the underlying mechanisms of killing in intimate femicides. 1,125 femicide cases in Italy, spanning from 2000 to 2005 were analyzed. Of these killings, 764 occurred within the domestic context. Through this analysis, the author proposes a model to describe the killer's profile based on the analysis of crime scenes, suspect information, and modus operandi. Based on these factors, the researcher demonstrates how they are able to classify femicides in Italy, as well as predict future cases.
