Although literature on femicide focusing on violence committed against immigrant women from patriarchal societies entering modern ones offers general explanations of this phenomenon (Gal, 2003; Wallach, Weingram, & Avitan, 2010), other more specific questions can be raised: Are there unique risk factors and triggers among Ethiopian immigrants who have relocated from a patriarchal culture to a modern one that lead to their significantly higher rate of IPH?
